# MOTS-c therapy. Start with the questions.

A plain-language guide to understanding MOTS-c and finding care. Curious is fine. A treatment claim still needs proof.

## What is MOTS-c?

MOTS-c is a peptide: a small piece of protein that the body makes itself.

The body’s instructions for making MOTS-c are stored in mitochondria. These are tiny parts inside cells that help make energy.

By September 30, 2026, no published study had reported what happened when people were given MOTS-c.

A study in China had begun, but its results were still missing.

## Is it an approved US treatment?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the US agency for reviewing medicines.

MOTS-c has no US FDA approval in records checked September 30, 2026.

Ask for the missing step

## What would count as an answer?

### Does it help with weight or stamina?

Mouse findings sparked interest, but they do not show that MOTS-c helps people lose weight or gain stamina.

### Do measurements in people prove treatment works?

Measuring the body’s own MOTS-c is a different question from testing what a MOTS-c treatment does.

### Is a study in people underway?

A trial is a test of a treatment in people.

The MOTS-c study is registered: its plan is listed on ClinicalTrials.gov, a public website for study records.

The record checked September 30, 2026 says the study began in February 2026. It was still looking for volunteers in China.

A listed start date does not tell us how many people received MOTS-c. The treatment results are still needed.

Your starting notes

## What are you hoping to change?

Put the goal in your own words. Then turn it into a question for a clinician, a health professional who can assess your concern.

My starting point

The change I hope for

The question I want answered first

I can say what I want help with.

I want the research behind the claim.

I’m ready to ask about other ways to get help.
